Carabiner kid proofing
Toddlers love to dump things out. The whole bin, all out on the floor, glorious success! We love that feeling and also need some square footage to traverse our living space.
We instituted a "put one major thing away before getting a second major thing out" rule. It mostly works, but with the usual plastic bins it became on oft-repeated lesson. The next weekend, we re-purposed the dining room shelves with these more attractive bins and installed these hooks. It made it just hard enough the kids had to think or ask. Their fingers can work the carabiners sufficiently to get into the bins, and the clear plastic flip lids let them see what they want.
